ESA Renewables Begins Construction on 1MW Solar Farm in Culberson, NC

System Expected to Generate 1.3 Million kWh Annually; Power to be Sold Back to Tennessee Valley Authority

Lake Mary, FL., January 11, 2011 – ESA Renewables, LLC, a leading turnkey solar system provider, has begun construction on a 1MW photovoltaic (PV) system in North Carolina. The system will be located in Culberson, NC, approximately 200 miles southwest of Charlotte. All electricity generated from the farm will be sold to Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) under a 10 year power purchase agreement and will further facilitate TVA’s growing green power portfolio in providing their customers with renewable energy.

ESA Renewables is the owner and turnkey design build contractor providing engineering, procurement, construction and O&M services for the solar farm. The farm will consist of approximately 4,300 Canadian Solar panels, which are expected to generate over 1,330,000 kWh of electricity annually. The system will be installed on a 16 acre parcel of property, owned by ESA, with the solar farm occupying one-third of the acreage. The remainder of the acreage is slated for additional solar development. The farm has a scheduled commercial operation date of February 2011 and once operational, the project will be one of the largest installations in North Carolina.

“ESA is committed to developing innovative strategies to expand the use of solar power and is additionally developing numerous large scale multi-megawatt projects throughout North Carolina to facilitate this expansion. We are helping to meet immediate renewable energy goals and looking forward to including these projects in TVA’s growing green power portfolio”, said Jeffrey Burkett, President of ESA Renewables. “We have multi-megawatts of solar projects in our global portfolio and these projects are the next step in the development of local utility scale renewable projects. Additionally, the projects are a clear validation of our approach to develop and market solar power, stimulate the local economy, and create new local jobs in North Carolina and across the US.”
